Black History Month is upon us! There are so many influential Black makeup artists & creators that go unnoticed in the makeup industry, so we’re changing that. Makeup is all about creativity & talent to inspire us to learn more in our own techniques & styles. The following are my favorite creators that CAGGS follows because of their creativity & talent that’ll catch anyone’s eye:
Deborah Campbell | @beatsbydeb
Deborah, or @beatsbydeb, is infamous for her creativity in all things glam. With millions of followers across social media, Deb truly inspires makeup artists to have fun creating new looks. Her influence allowed her to be a speaker at TikTok’s Creator’s Summit in December to share her success story & encourage other creators to share their passions. Deb even founded her own makeup line, BeatsByDeb Cosmetics, offering lashes, lip kits, liner, & more that is featured in her makeup looks & content. Deb demonstrates there’s no limit to what we can achieve as long as we continue to dream big!
Anya Tisdale | @anya.tisdale
Anya, or @anya.tisdale, sees makeup as an art form that is reflected in her editorial & avante-garde looks. She has accumulated over 175,000 followers across social media, yet her impact is major. Anya is credited as the first to start the ‘cakeface’ trend that’s recently inspired other creators & artists, including @beatsbydeb, to recreate the trend in their own image. In fact, one of Anya’s ‘cakeface’ creations is the cover of this article! Her influence has allowed partnerships with iconic beauty brands including Anastasia Beverly Hills, Colourpop Cosmetics, & more. Anya shows us there’s no boundaries in the world of makeup because it is an art, & our beautiful faces are the canvas.
Mason Lane | @muamason
Mason, or @muamason, is a creator that is genuinely underestimated! He creates stunning avante-garde looks that have caught the attention of over 150,000 followers across social media. Mason primarily focuses on the eyes to create his mesmerizing looks that countless other creators attempt to recreate. He is one of few black male makeup artists or creators to continuously pop-up on our feed. We need to change that! One of our goals is to interview Mason because little information is available about his story. However, Mason still inspires us to pursue our passions no matter who we are or how we look.
There’s countless other Black makeup artists & creators that exist all across America social media to follow. Deb, Anya, & Mason all take their makeup to new heights & pushes us to explore our own talents & skills. Be sure to let us know who inspires you, so we can continue to highlight Black beauties!
