2025 Beauty Predictions

With the start of a new year approaching, I challenged myself to predict upcoming beauty trends for the year. I wanted to share my prediction for 2025 to reflect what trends are correct or incorrect at the end of the year. Here’s the three predictions I have for 2025:

1. 90’s Inspired Grunge

Y2K & 2000’s glam had their moment this year, but I believe elements of 90’s grunge will trend in 2025. One key element of 90’s grunge specifically is the mauve & brown lip tones. Pink & neutral tones have dominated the 2020’s so far, but I think 2025 will be the year we see a shift in lip color. Another element of 90’s grunge I believe will come back is smokey eyes. Whether it’s a smudged eyeliner look or a subtle smokey eye, there will be more drama to the eyes.

2. Luminous Looks

Glitter infused eyeshadows & liquid highlighters have been launching left & right. I believe these launches are preparing for a trend in luminous looks in 2025. What entails a ‘luminous’ look? Anything that adds a soft focus of shine into glam. The glitter eyeshadows & liquid highlighters will provide a subtle way to add luminosity to the eyes & skin. I definitely believe highlighters are going to have their comeback to add shine & deweyness to base routines as well. 

3. The End of Natural

Lastly, I believe 2025 will be the start to an end of the minimalist & ‘clean girl’ aesthetics in beauty. The start of the 2020’s has introduced us to natural base routines paired with tame colors for the eyes & lips. With 90’s inspired grunge & luminous looks, there will be less natural-inspired routines. Of course, natural & dewey base routines will still exist, but I think the new focus will be on the eyes or lips for a change.
